Product Manager HPLC


The product manager for HPLC reports to the head of marketing and is responsible for the success of the product line in the EMEA region. Key measures of success are revenue, market share, profit, customers satisfaction and advocacy. The product manager has an end to end life cycle responsibility but with limited involvement in product development (which happens in Japan) and a focus on market opportunities, customers, launch and commercialization. The role requires to collaborate globally and regionally across various functions inside and outside of Tosoh. The successful candidate needs to be able to develop successful strategies and is willing to participate in the tactical execution. It is a leadership role which requires a broad experience in product marketing as the candidate is expected to work autonomously. We look for an inspiring leader who is able to create excitement, can manage dependencies and executes with success despite challenging market conditions. We expect 100% compliance with market regulations and internal policies – a pre-requisite in the In-vitro-diagnostics market.

In global collaboration with relevant functional leaders e.g. market intelligence, marketing communication and sales, the product manager

  • Establishes and constantly enriches a profound product, technology and application knowledge base – the source for all product information needed inside and outside of Tosoh.
  • Establishes and maintains profound market knowledge including conditions,  trends, drivers, technology, competition, price, cost, re-imbursement, regulations
  • Establishes and maintains a strong network with key opinion leaders in clinical research, diagnosis, health authorities and otherwise relevant decision makers to understand and influence markets and trends.
  • Establishes market and customer research strategies to permanently collect relevant internal and external input on customer’s needs, success factors and competitive advantages.
  • Translates market & customer insights into requirements and product specifications for short and long term development aimed for highest competitiveness in the market.
  • Identifies and quantifies business opportunities and influences the global development pipeline by pro-actively submitting convincing business cases.
  • Launches new products successfully – executes all necessary tasks to enable the product for sales following Tosoh procedures & policies. Registers products in relevant markets in compliance with local regulations and laws.
  • Based on deep market and customer understanding develops, implements and supervises successful commercialization strategies targeted to the right market niches and customer segments increasing market share, sales and ROI.
  • Creates excitement and a desire to buy through compelling value propositions, convincing messaging and successful positioning towards the customer needs. Identifies unique selling positions, sets the right price and develops arguments to beat the competition.
  • Co-develops and supports the execution of an omni-channel content and communication strategy - provides relevant product insights to those creating content, collaterals & executing campaigns - validates correctness and relevance – recommends improvements. 
  • Increases customers product awareness and desire to buy through presentations at congresses, trainings and workshops relevant for targeted audiences.
  • Increases motivation and competence to sell at all sales people internally and at distribution partners via regular education and information sharing.
  • Monitors relevant KPIs to constantly improve effectiveness of marketing strategies and campaigns – achieving or exceeding industry standards. Provides relevant reports.
  • Guides the creation of revenue plans, monitors performance, provides forecasts and recommends short and long term improvements in sales performance.  
  • Requests and manages marketing budget wisely - achieving highest ROI of marketing investments

Your Profile:

  • Master or Bachelor in Marketing or degree in Science with Post-graduate Marketing qualification.
  • Solid business experience in in-vitro diagnostics industry, life sciences or related industries.
  • Minimum of 5 years in product and/or market management or business development
  • Ideal: experience in HPLC Product Management - otherwise demonstrated ability to market highly technical, scientific or diagnostic products
  • Proven track record in actively driving business growth and realizing new business opportunities.
  • Strategic mindset and the ability to lead autonomously in challenging market conditions
  • Exceptional marketing capabilities, problem solving skills and successful execution
  • Strong project management skills, with proven ability to clearly define objectives, priorities, develop project plan, and manage to deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal  and communication skills, including presentation and listening skills
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment, strong cross-functional management by influence
  • Demonstrated analytical skills related to market research, pricing, financial modeling, and identification of key business insights.
  • Positive attitude, confidence, initiative and self-motivation, strong work ethic.
  • Fluent in English.
  • This position is home office based, but requires regular travel in Europe
